Customers Laud Host Access and Integration Expert for Innovative and Quality Software
At HP World 2002, WRQ, Inc. today announced the release of WRQ Reflection 10.0, the latest version of its acclaimed line of Windows-based terminal emulation and PC-UNIX integration solutions. Offering the broadest platform support available, Reflection solutions are designed to help businesses access mission-critical data and applications on their host systems easily, securely and at reduced cost.
Reflection Facilitates Evolving IT Needs
Based on customer requirements and major market trends, the arrival of Reflection 10.0 is critically timed to address the most pressing needs of host system users. The new product line offers increased security capabilities, new Web infrastructure support for better management of host access from a Web portal, additional management controls and automation capabilities that help reduce errors, lower labor costs and accelerate the completion of routine tasks.
The new solution strikes a chord with the increasing number of IT departments seeking cost-cutting and management efficiencies through software and vendor consolidation a best practice also known as standardization. In addition to todays product announcement, WRQ will release results of an analyst-commissioned report on the economic benefits of standardizing on Reflection.
In addition to marking Reflection as a well-established solution in the marketplace, version 10.0 clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to developing innovative and quality software that enables our customers to be more agile, said Randy Robinson, vice president and manager of the Reflection Business Unit at WRQ.
WRQ Customer and Industry Analyst Reactions
As the host-access market continues to witness vendor consolidation, companies must respond to their clients priorities in a timely fashion with solutions that are easy to implement and cost-effective, said Max Flisi, research analyst for Datacenter Networks at IDC. Reflection 10.0 contains features that drive home these two aspects, and which will become indispensable as WRQ seeks to increase market share.
The new features in version 10 have once again made the Reflection product my choice, said Asher Weinstein, IDX system administrator, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. The ability to search the scrolled data on the screen saves me great deal of time looking back at the output and is a distinct advantage to saving the output to a file and searching it in a text editor.
Reflection 10.0 continues WRQs tradition of extremely high-quality products and services, said Steve Cooper, president, Allegro Consultants, Inc. And, as a user of multiple Reflection products, I appreciate this high standard. Without a doubt, Reflection
X is the most robust PC X server on the market, Reflection for HP with NS/VT is the most thorough and precise terminal emulation solution for the platform and Reflection FTP Client is so easy to use it makes file transfers almost transparent.
Highlights of Reflection 10.0
Key capabilities and new features of the multi-product Reflection line include:
Reflection Web Launch: A time-saving and management control that allows administrators to deploy terminal sessions, settings macros and other Reflection files to multiple users or groups of users via a Web browser.
Interoperability between Windows-based and Java thin client Reflection offerings:
In an initial step to facilitate customers with both thick and thin client requirements, Reflection incorporates settings conversion capabilities between Reflection 10.0 and WRQ Reflection for the Web.
Reflection Administrators Toolkit: Separate admin tools that put control in hands of the system administrator and remove complexity from the user desktop.
Familiar and easy interface: Through a custom interface developed with the Microsoft Windows XP theme manager end users can display Reflection with a same look and feel as Windows XP. WRQ Reflection is the first host access product to offer this update.
Fully integrated Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), version 6.3, for streamlining tasks and customizing terminal sessions: Gives Reflection users the latest and best desktop automation tool available in the market today.
Increased security capabilities: WRQ has expanded its desktop security offering by adding an integrated OpenSSH client and enhancing the Kerberos client and SSL/ TLS Telnet encryption.
Reflection X forges new ground: The new version arrives to market as the first PC X server developed as a native 64-bit Windows XP application. This capability will enable users to benefit from the huge memory support, performance and scalability the new Intel Itanium processor, as well as the Windows XP 64-bit edition can offer. (Also, all Reflection 10.0 products have been tested and run on 64-bit Windows XP.) Other enhancements to Reflection X are: integrated OpenSSH client and VPN functions for enhanced security and the ability to access X Window applications over IPv6 network.
WRQ Reflection 10.0 includes: WRQ Reflection for the Multi-Host Enterprise, WRQ Reflection Suite for X, WRQ Reflection for HP with NS/VT, WRQ Reflection for UNIX and OpenVMS, WRQ Reflection for IBM, WRQ Reflection X, and WRQ Reflection NFS Client.
