This guide will walk you through one of the best (but certainly not the easiest) way to make millions. There are plenty of ways to make a large sum of money, but this strategy takes away the majority of the grind. If you are a new player, I'd recommend not viewing this guide; there is so much that you can do in this game even without a fleet to rival the Navy, and it is actually much more fun to accidentally discover alien races with advanced technology.
  1. Endless Sky is a 2D sandbox-styled space game with a lot of elements from other games that will seem familiar. Games like Elite, EVE Online (inspiried by Elite), Star Control and the like. It is fairly basic high level, but there is a fair amount of things going on underneath the hood so to speak.
  2. Endless Sky is a 2D space trading and combat game inspired by the classic Escape Velocity series. Work your way up from a relatively wimpy shuttle, cargo ship, or fighter, to a highly upgraded and customized flagship or to a massive fleet of warships or freighters. Earn money by carrying passengers.
  3. Note: MANY OF THESE SHIPS ARE DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN! This is the main index. Here is the minmax index. You may also be interested in the outfit spoiler. You probably want chewwachoque's spoiler instead. All Ships, By Category.
  4. A list of tags to be used when filtering the plugin list. A 'cover image' representing the mod. These will all be required to be a certain size, but I haven't decided yet what the size should be.

This is an all content plugin for Endless Sky. To be used to assist in content creation, or just for general use. RestingImmortal: Gameplay Animated-ships: This plugin adds animations to many of the ships in Endless Sky. Beccabunny: Gameplay undisruptive-animated-ships: This is a version of the animated ships plugin with slower, less disruptive.

This guide will throw spoiler after spoiler at you.

Starting Out

You will first be met by a screen, asking you to fill out your name. Do whatever you want here. Then, the easiest way to pay off the initial loan that I have found will be to choose the shuttle. Finish James' missions and find a system far away from Sol that has few surrounding systems.
Examples include:
  • Mebtusa
  • Wezen
  • Gamma Corvi
  • Tarazed
  • Polaris

Then you will want to accept missions without deadlines that are as far away as possible by landing on your planet and taking off again until you find one that suits you. If you can accept multiple, try and have all your missions in a cluster with at most two jumps between systems. Do this until you are no longer in debt.

Venturing Onward

Once you are no longer in debt, head to the wormhole in Ultima Thule; the system directly below the 'O' in 'Far North,' and enter it. This leads to the Hai Territory, where the prices are very high but the outfits are some of the most space efficient in the game. We only need one outfit; the Quantum Keystone. This will be essential.
Now, farm special cargo missions until you have enough money to buy any ship better than a shuttle, as you will need the extra shields and hull for the next step (I'd personally recommend the Bounder).

Easy Jump Drive Strategy

EndlessLand on systems south of The Deep (like Tania Australis) to activate a specific mission, where you go investigate the Terminus system. Complete the mission and go back to Terminus, preferably with LOTS of free cargo space. Navigate your way to the Remnant and wait until you are offered the mission to help repel an invading Korath fleet. Pray to the RNG, and depart. Avoid combat at all costs. Loot disabled Korath ships for their jump drives, install one on your ship, and go to the Free Worlds. I'd recommend leaving with as many as you can carry, reloading your save if you don't max out your cargo with jump drives.

The Finale

Once you are at the southern edge of the Free Worlds, you will notice systems outside human space. Jump to Coalition space and land. You will be required to do approximately 30 jobs for them before you can start purchasing stuff from there. Go to the 14 Pole system, and either repeat the instructions of 'Starting Out' or take missions to the ring-worlds until you have enough money to buy a larger passenger ship, preferably the Kimek Spire. Then, equip the ship with as many bunk rooms as possible, with the previously mentioned ship capable of roughly 261 passengers. Then just run missions to the ring-worlds and you will soon be able to afford any ship, what with the fact that you can get several missions each worth three million credits with the same destination.

A galaxy lies open for you to explore.

Endless Sky is a 2D space trading and combat game similar to the classic Escape Velocity series. Explore other star systems. Earn money by trading, carrying passengers, or completing missions. Use your earnings to buy a better ship or to upgrade the weapons and engines on your current one. Blow up pirates. Take sides in a civil war. Or leave human space behind and hope to find friendly aliens whose culture is more civilized than your own.

Downloads are available for Mac OS X and Windows, and many Linux distributions are also supported. Endless Sky is free and open source, the product of a growing community of developers and content creators.

After years of working a factory job, you have finally saved up enough money to apply for a pilot's license and make a down payment on your very first starship. The backwater planet where you grew up only sells three ship models: a shuttle, a cargo barge, and a light interceptor. Depending on which one you choose, you'll start out earning money by transporting passengers, looking for good trade deals, or perhaps mining asteroids or taking jobs escorting freighter convoys. Of course, you are hoping to save up enough money for a much better ship before long.

Human space is a network of two hundred star systems, most of them inhabited, joined by hyperspace links. No one really understands how the hyperdrive works or how the links were initially created, but they say that the strange aliens who live down at the edge of the Rim have other means of travel that allow them to visit other parts of the galaxy.

A merchant captain can earn a living by buying cheap food and luxury goods from the poorer parts of the galaxy and trading it for medical supplies or electronics on richer worlds. But you can often earn a better income by taking on special jobs. The more cargo space you have in your fleet, and the higher your combat reputation grows, the more jobs become available to you.

Of course, if you fancy yourself a hotshot pilot, you might be able to earn income more quickly by starting out in the interceptor and mining asteroids or even hunting pirates. In fact, no matter what ship you choose, if you stray into the wrong parts of the galaxy you're sure to run into pirates sooner or later.

The trouble is, you're flying the wimpiest ship in the galaxy right now, so early on your piloting skills will be useful mostly for dodging missiles and running away from combat.

Fortunately, there are hundreds of different 'outfits' - weapons, engines, power generators, cooling systems, and much more - that you can buy to upgrade your ship. With the tiny ship you start out in, equipping it will always involve tradeoffs: buy better engines, to help you run away from pirates? Or sell all the non-essentials to make room for more cargo? Stock ships tend to be well balanced, but once you start modifiying your ship you'll also have to worry about energy requirements and heat dissipation.

Once you've paid off your mortgage (or qualified for a bigger one) it's time to think about buying a better ship, either to build a fleet or to replace your flagship. About 50 different models of ships are available in human territory, anything from massive freighters to powerful warships to quick, nimble scoutships. And, every once in a while you hear rumors that people have traveled beyond known space and discovered alien civilizations with technology far superior to your own.

To really make your mark in the galaxy, you'll have to choose which factions to side with, both in human space and beyond. Only one major story line has been written so far, allowing you to take part in a rebellion that reshapes human space. Endless Sky is designed to make it as easy as possible to create new content to add to the game, and people are hard at work on other story lines, as well as new alien species, ships, and outfits.
